Taxes Report is missing data for certain date ranges (edited)

The Tax Report populates for 2025 items, but nothing shows up for 2024.

Page refresh doesn't help. The same occurs on the mobile app.

Actually, data only shows up for "This Year." None of the other date ranges work, including "This Month"….

For me, it's working - do you have transactions dated 2024 that are in tax categories (Settings→Categories shows/sets tax lines for categories).

"This month" = February, today is the first, it is likely you made no tax-related transactions today.

@RobWilk Yep. The report only populates with "This Year" selected or "Last Month" (ie January)

@fcb Sounds like a bug, but somehow it's working for me.

I would suggest trying in incognito/inprivate mode on your browser - if that works, clear cache/cookies

@fcb Also, I have 'early access' turned on, so it's possible i'm running a different version than you - you can try that in settings...

It seems to be working for me. I had already filed my income tax but 2024 seemed right. I wasn't too sure about the numbers it showed for deductions since it shows all the taxes I paid, many of which aren't deductible. But the numbers were right.

I have the exact same issue "The Tax Report populates for 2025 items, but nothing shows up for 2024" . I have plenty of data in 2024 withing tax categories.

  • gpolkga
    gpolkga Member

After further testing - I can retrieve data from 05/012024 - 01/01/2025 but any date prior to 05/01/2024 results in a blank report.

  • gpolkga
    gpolkga Member

Actually, 04/02/2024 is the cutoff date - that would be 9 months. Sure seems like a bug to me. And yes, I have early release.

@gpolkga Is it possible you did not have a subscription prior to April 2nd, 2024? I noticed you joined the community in May if I saw right - I know some of the reports, like net worth, start on the date (unless you imported net worth history) that the accounts were created in simplifi, and even having older data (prior to date the account was created in Quicken Simplifi) would not result in the data being shown.

I'd already cleared browser data, different browser, used incognito, etc. I have early release turned on. I've been on a subscription since mid-2023, so there is lots of data. In the Transaction tab, the data set is showing since 2023.

No reports that include anything into 2024 populate.

HOWEVER, the report for 2023 does work. Therefore, it seems like a glitch on the Simplifi end, not any data or settings on our end.

Well, your posts made me start thinking so I tried some different dates:

    2024: Works

    2023: Nothing

    2022: Works

    2021: Works

This was strange to me so I did 2023 some more. Same result. Then I hit filters and clicked All Categories, All Payees, All Accounts, and then it worked. For some reason, 2023 wasn't automatically doing all.

This is a new feature on preview and so there are a few bugs. See if this works for you! @fcb

PS I didn't have a subscription until Nov 2021 but I put in all the 2021 data and it shows up for me. As long as it's categorized and the categories are correctly tied to the Tax Line, it should be no problem.

https://community.simplifimoney.com/profile/RobWilk ahead of you, and the same as yours except zip on 2024 data.

https://community.simplifimoney.com/profile/SRC54 I just tried the filtering again, but only turning on all tags worked. But of course that's useless as it's only tagged items.

ie a glitch on Simplifi's side.

@fcb I don't think you should select tags, just all categories, payees and accounts. When I select tags, I just get the transactions that have tags.

Bummer that you cannot get 2024 data as it is the data you need for filing your taxes. OTOH, if you can wait a week or so, they'll probably be an update.

@SRC54 I tried all variations and combinations of filters, and the only one that populates is Tags.

This is useless unless I do the workaround and bulk add a tag (say 2024) to every entry. But the downside is that there doesn't seem to be a way to bulk-remove tags.

    Hello @fcb,

Thanks for reaching out! I was unable to replicate this behavior you are seeing on our side. Do you have transactions in 2024 that have tax-related categories? Does this same behavior also show up in the mobile application for you as well?

    2024 - thousands

    Mobile - yes

Refer to the comments above by a few others who have the same issue.

I am getting very nervous and concerned about the viability of my "data." This issue and others, like transactions going awol, shouldn't be happening. I understand that the tax fields are early release, but having this kind of random bug is still concerning. At this point, for 2024 taxes, I am going to have to do a complete CSV data dump for Simplifi AND my Banks. That will be zero fun, but I have to double-check everything now.

@Coach Jon Just to reiterate, the issue on the Tax Report seems to be a filtering bug. Read through the posts above; we've already done the testing.

    Hello @fcb,

I understand and have read through the thread, however, we will need more information in order to verify what specifically is occuring here and how to resolve it. You mentioned that when you filter by tag in this report, transactions appear. Can you provide screenshots showing this behavior in Quicken Simplifi?

    Thank you,

    Coach Jon

    no filters:

All filters on, but no item w/o a tag show up. ie this won't solve the issue:

    Just all Categories:

    Just payee filter, all on

    Just accounts:

And just Tags, but the result is only items with a tag. Lots of tax related entries do not have a tag…. So, for Income, nothing shows up.

Yeah, I think the report is not working as it was intended. I just tested out everything on this thread and items marked as "tax related" in settings will only populate on the tax report if a tag of any name is assigned to it. It seems the report is using the existence of a tag to determine if a transaction gets pulled onto the tax report. What should be happening is that transactions are pulled onto the tax report if they are assigned to a category that is marked as "tax related". Hope this is fixed soon as this new report would be SUPER helpful.

If we have to add a tag for the tax report to know it's tax related that sort of defeats the point of the ability to mark things as "tax related" and makes this whole thing very tedious.

    Hello @fcb,

Thank you for the screenshots. This may be specific to your dataset. Can you please supply logs to further assist us?

    1. Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
    2. Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
    3. With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
    4. Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    Hello @fcb,

Thanks for the logs! Please try deleting one of the categories assigned to a transaction from 2024 that is not appearing in your tax report. Afterward, re-create the category, and then reassign it to the transaction/s from last year to see if this works.

@Coach Jon I get 2023 to work if I select All Categories, All Accounts, All Payees. If I select tags, I just get income and not deductions. It is a random bug as 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025 work without my having to do that.

By the way I notice that on none of the reports do tags show up. For example, Vehicle Tax has two entries correct BUT the tag for my car and my wife's car doesn't show. Weird.
