Transactions not being properly downloaded + pending balance inconsistent (edited)

I have several credit cards with Simplifi - some with Chase, an American Express, and a Fidelity card.

When doing my February budget closeout I noticed that only some of the recent transactions are being imported into Simplifi. And for the Amex, the balance with pending is totally wrong.

After waiting a few days (until March 2nd) with numerous account refreshes, I still have these issues.

For my Chase cards, the single pending transaction is showing properly. Bank balance with pending is correct. ✅

For my American Express, I am missing a posted transaction from 2/28 (for $141) but both pending transactions are correctly imported. Bank balance with pending is totally incorrect - it shows positive $35, vs the roughly $1,640.77 balance it should show. It's not clear to me how Simplifi is arriving at the $35 amount given the total pending transactions are around $17 total and I see only those as pending in Simplifi. ❌

For my Fidelity credit card, I am missing all 3 pending transactions. Balance with pending shows current balance, ignoring pending. ❌

I have waited a few days (until today) to see if refreshing will pull these transactions.

I am trying to understand why I am missing both pending as well as non-pending transactions as this is making my February budget closeout impossible.

Are there ongoing issues for importing transactions right now? I'm really unsure why 2/3 of our cards would have issues importing transactions.

    (1) If one transaction is missing, you can always enter it by hand, and mark it cleared.

    (2) How simplifi is supposed to arrive aat the bank balance is something like this: (1) downnload the current balance at the bank, (2) apply transactions that are in simplifi but not reflected in the bank balance (whether they be pending or manual). Some bank balances, depending on the bank, factor in pending, some don't, so the process varies by bank slightly.

    (3) I currently use Chase, Citibank, and Apple Card for credit cards. Like you, Chase is not showing any issues; I haven't had issues with Citi either that I've noticed - but Apple Card sometimes takes multiple refreshes before it shows the right balance and transactions, and even then, it misses some.

    Hi @RobWilk,

For (1) I know I can do that, but if I'm missing so many transactions it means I really can't count on Simplifi - the whole point of using an aggregator like this is to avoid having to check each individual accounts. If I have to manually reconcile them to each respective card because Simplifi is consistently missing transactions, it feels problematic.

For (2) I agree. That's why I'm confused why a card with a -$1670ish balance and no pending transactions would show as +$35 in the balance with pending view. This has historically worked, I think. It's not clear to me why it'd be so off here.

    (3) I've probably refreshed each card 4-5 times. I'm really not sure what to make of that.

    Hello @ender,

That is a frustrating issue. To clarify, when you refer to transactions being imported, are you talking about the transactions downloading into Quicken Simplifi from the financial institution, or are you referring to importing a .CSV file into Quicken Simplifi?

Was your Fidelity card previously showing pending transaction information? If it has never shown information about pending transactions, then it's possible that Fidelity isn't providing that information to us.

When did the balance on the American Express card start to act strange? Since you mentioned that you've reset it multiple times and the issue is still persisting, the next step would be to make the account manual (for instructions, click here), add the account (for instructions, click here), then make sure to link the account to the correct name in Quicken Simplifi (for instructions, click here).

I look forward to your reply!

@Coach Kristina imported automatically from the financial institution. I do not upload a CSV.

I don't know if the Fidelity card was previously providing pending information. I do not normally end up manually cross checking transactions between my cards/Simplifi to know.

I'm not sure when the balance got weird for the amex account. I do know it's retrieving transactions still, as one (pending) transaction from today just showed up. It's still missing at least 1 transaction from 2/28 which has posted.

I'm unsure if it's missing others, I noticed this because it's a subscription and so I couldn't find the actual transaction to link to the subscription and then checked amex's account.

    @ender, thanks for the reply!

I would suggest establishing a completely fresh connection with each of your banks, and gaining a new access token from the banks as well. You will want to follow these steps for each of the affected banks:

    1. Navigate to the bank's website, sign in, and remove Quicken's access from the bank's third-party linked apps.
    2. Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and make all of your accounts with this bank manual by following the steps here.
    3. Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank and reauthorize your accounts.
    4. Carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here.

Once done, you will want to keep an eye on things moving forward. If any issues persist, you will want to create a separate post to outline each individual issue with each separate bank so the issues do not become convoluted in one post. Please provide specific details and examples, such as the name of the bank, the specific transactions that are missing, the exact balance discrepancy, proof from the bank's website that Quicken Simplifi is wrong, etc.

Additionally, here is our support article on how balances work in Quicken Simplifi, in case it helps with the balance issues you've reported: https://support.simplifi.quicken.com/en/articles/4202003-how-to-resolve-balance-discrepancies

    Much appreciated!
