Editing the date on one side of a linked transaction is affecting the other side
I manually linked a transaction today (a transfer from one of my bank accounts to another). The date of the outgoing transfer transaction was 2/6 and the date of the incoming transfer transaction was 2/9 (today). Linking the transactions changed the date of the original transaction to 2/9. Now if I manually change the date of transaction on either side, it changes the date of the transaction on the other side. This has never happened with my other linked transactions, each side of which retains its original, actual date.

I've noticed this for a while. If you leave them alone, they keep the downloaded dates but if you change one, it changes the other.
Typically I pay my Amazon Card on the website and the next day it says Feb 4 on the Card side but the pending transfer in my Checking Account says the 5th. It stays that way but just now I changed the Bank side to the 4th and then back to the 5th, and now the Card side says the 5th as well.
In Quicken Classic, it always has the same date. If you change one, it changes the other. I actually think this makes sense.

@ejs, thanks for posting to the Community with this issue!
I can confirm that Linked Transfers are designed to have the same date in Quicken Simplifi. If you'd like to see this behavior changed, please be sure to add your vote and feedback to the following Idea post, and then follow it for updates.
Sorry for not having better news, but I hope this helps!

While I have read that this is the case, I have also had transfers automatically linked to transactions from up to 2 months ago! With no simple way to unlink and tell it to rather create a new transaction on the other end, this can get annoying.

Wow. I’ve had erroneous links but not 2 mos apart.

It just happened to me about 2 weeks before. It was bizarre! And a pain to fix, I had to create the other side manually first.

@Coach Natalie, thank you - I will add my vote to the request to have linked transfer transactions each retain their actual, original dates. But if linked transfers are designed to work the way you described, then why do the vast majority of my linked transfers retain their original, different dates?

@ejs, thanks for adding your vote to the Idea post!
I'm not sure why some would behave differently. I can just confirm what the intended design is based on our current resources, and share the Idea post, since that's where our product team would be monitoring for use cases and to see how many users would like to see the change made.
If you are on Early Access and are using the new register, that may be why you're seeing differences, and it's possible that the design has changed with the new register. If this is the case, the best place to post would be in the official feedback thread for the new register, as our product team is actively monitoring feedback and inquiries left there:
If you aren't using the new register, you might consider giving it a try to see if things work better for you! To do so, you'd just need to enable Early Access:

@Coach Natalie, I'm not on Early Access. This is the first instance I've noticed where the dates of linked transactions were forced to be the same; all of my other linked transactions that had different dates retained their original dates. So it just seems odd that this single instance would represent the "feature" while all the (many, many) other instances represent the "bug." I'd rather not sign up for Early Access because, in general, I would prefer for bugs to get ironed out of the software before I start using it.

@ejs, in that case, I would recommend waiting until the new register is out of Early Access testing and live for all users, so any lingering bugs or issues can be reported at that time, as any issues with the old (current) register will become obsolete.
It's my understanding that the new register should be out for everyone in the next few weeks, though that is subject to change at any time. We will post an update to the official announcement when the full release occurs!
If, after the new register is out, you still want to report that your Linked Transfer dates don't match in Quicken Simplifi as they are intended to, let us know!
