So I've been trying Simplifi for a little over a week. I think it's really powerful and I love it so much more than Monarch. I would say I'd be glad to make a permanent switch but there are a few things that are really frustrating about the usability of Simplifi. For example, why does there need to be an assist button on the bottom right when there's an Ask Assist button right at the top? The one at the bottom right sits right above the scroll bar and nearly touches the down arrow from the scroll bar. Can't that second button be eliminated, or at least moved so it doesn't get in the way of trying to navigate your way through the program?
Another obstacle to ease of use is how the categories dropdowns appear. The scroll bar gets blocked there too. Let's say I want to get to the Shopping category, for which I'd have to scroll down. As soon as my cursor touches the Auto & Transport line, the subcategory popup appears and it blocks the scroll bar. So now I have to zig zag with my cursor in order to get it to disappear and get back to the scroll bar. It's a small nuisance but because it gets repeated so often, it gets in the way of really good ease of use.
But the main thing that's absolutely maddening is the lack of an Expand/Collapse All button. When reviewing transactions, if I collapse several months but then need to leave the screen to accomplish a task for a particular transaction, everything is expanded again when I return to the main transaction screen. It's so frustrating. And it requires so much extra work to use the program.
I’ve seen that people have apparently been asking for this feature for a long time. Is an Expand/Collapse All option, or a way to preserve the collapsed/expanded state when returning to the transaction screen, on the roadmap?
I really do like Simplifi and think it has the potential to be exactly what I’m looking for. But these usability issues, especially the transaction expand/collapse behavior, may be what prevents me from sticking with it.
