How to get manual Investment ("Other Investment") account to update?

Background: I turned my HSA account with HealthEquity into a manual account because I was migrated to passkeys. Others experienced this too:

Issue: With my past transactions and now the manual transactions I add, the balance is showing as $0. Note this is an "investment account" — however I only hold cash and the balance should just be the sum of the opening balance plus all transactions after.

I tried waiting a day or two in case some nightly reconciliation occurs. Also, I tried uploading historical balances using a csv file with the running balances and dates. However, that didn't fix the issue. Below are screenshots of what I see. Any idea how to get the balance correct?

Hello @supermatthew,

Thanks for reaching out! For manual investment accounts, the balance shown in Quicken Simplifi for that account is its market value, which is the sum of all holdings plus any cash in the account. Investment transactions themselves do not interact with your account balance.

Hi @Coach Jon. Thank you for the info about holdings. I still did want to understand why the Import Historical Balance option isn't working as expected. I created a CSV file in the format that Simplifi specifies:

I don't know if it will make any difference, but the template for uploading historical balances does not have quotation marks around the dates and values like your file appears to. Instead, it looks like this:

Other people have found that the upload system is extraordinarily sensitive to the exact format, so maybe doing it this way would help.

Technically quotation marks should be optional and just act as safety for when the cell value itself contains commas. I think there is a deeper problem or I'm not understanding the feature.

Hi @Coach Jon I found that the issue was that importing the historical balance does not affect the current balance, i.e., after the last historical balance row (7/6/2026), the balance falls to $0 on 7/7/2026 and onward. So the last balance in the import does not become the current balance. I guess I need to keep the cash holding updated manually as well.

Have you tried reversing the order of the date column in the template? It may be occurring this way due to the last row being "01/14/2026, 0.00" based on the date you presented above.

I tried it both ways. I think the app handles csv files in the standard ways (with quotes, various date formats), this is more about the logic.
