This is my farewell frustration post for Simplifi. The product has not performed as I would have liked and I'm switching [Removed - 3rd Party Software]. Here are my general gripes:
Website Version:
The Transactions window scrolls a little bit up and down. NBD. However, within that scrolling window is a scrolling window of the transactions. THAT is annoying and unnecessary. Just bad UI design.
In The App:
In the app, I have repeatedly deleted a rule that kept changing the name of the Payer of one paycheck to another and it kept coming back. Only today did I discover that deleting the rule in the app on the transaction only deleted it on that one transaction. When I went to settings and rules, I could see them but couldn't delete them. I had to go to the website do that.
I use my Apple Card for nearly everything for the 1% or 2% cash back. Every week or so I transfer from my check to Apple Savings the amount of every transaction so I know which ones I've done. The Apple Savings transactions show up in Simplifi that day but the bank transactions show up a day later. NBD. But though Simplifi was smart enough to change the name of my employer automatically without my permission, it ISN'T smart enough to link these two transaction, I have to do them manually. Irritating.
And to make that tedious task even more tedious, when I swipe left on the transaction so I can change the category, I used to be able to type "Tim" and it would show all the accounts that start with "Tim". Today Simplifi decided to show none. I have to delete the "m" and about 40% of the time when I typed it back in, it still showed no accounts. Grrr.
Overall:
Putting an AI agent in your product seems to be all the rage these days but it isn't often helpful. Yes, I turned it off but I didn't ask for it to be turned on to begin with and I only found the off button while I was trying to fix the rule issue above.
My experience with Simplifi over the past year has been marginally irritating. I used Quicken back in the day and was hoping for a Mint/Quicken like experience with Simplify. The platform and the name have some potential but they haven't delivered a good user experience so far.
Actual milage may vary. Ask your financial advisor if Simplifi is right for you. Opinion subject to change without notice. Side effects may include gritting of teeth, chronic swiping, occasional outbursts, nausea.
