Vanguard brokerage Tbill investment suddenly showing 100x true value in investments

Value is correct in the transaction totals view but its wrong when I click to drill down and it opens the Investments view. It appears that maybe the volume of units is incorrect but hard to tell exactly as there is no corresponding transaction to inspect.

To better understand the issue and tailor troubleshooting, please let us know whether this account is connected or manually tracked in Quicken Simplifi. Also, just to clarify, you're referring to a holding in the Portfolio view; is that correct? If so, is the market value shown in the Portfolio also incorrect?

Its connected to 2 Brokerage accounts at Vanguard. It appears the source of the issue may(?) be the way Vanguard is presenting the data for Tbills. VG Tbills have has a field called share Quantity Vanguard defines this the quantity number as its maturity value in $ not units. See screenshot

At the time this item was purchased I entered the correct quantity. I added 100 share quantity to match the $10,000 maturity value. ($100 maturity price). However this 10,000 number has now updated the Simplifi share quantity box, overwriting the original 100 shares with 10,000.

Maybe there a way to fix this manually to override the connected quantity number so it reverts to the original purchase quantity? It appears edit holding does not allow change of share quantity.

Since this is one of several investments in this account and I need to keep the prices updating but not reload quantity for this item.

You can't edit holdings in connected investment accounts in Quicken Simplifi, which is likely why Vanguard is overriding the share quantity value. The only way to fix it manually is to track the account manually in Quicken Simplifi. Once converted to a manual account, you can edit the holdings, including share quantity, and fully control the data.

Otherwise, we'd look at performing basic troubleshooting in the community, such as establishing a completely fresh connection with Vanguard and getting a new access token. However, if the bank is sending in the information this way, I'm not sure those steps would be meaningful in this case. Thanks I will try a new connection. However Googling I found some comments describing what looks like exactly the same issue for Quicken Classic. I wondered if the steps described here were available in Simplifi?

If your Vanguard Treasury Bills are downloading to Quicken with the incorrect number of units, you are likely experiencing a known reporting issue where Vanguard misreports the units versus the face value/price in their downloaded OFX files. [1, 2]This typically manifests because T-bills are bought at a discount but have a face value of $100 or $1,000. Vanguard's backend occasionally transmits the total dollar value or face value as the "units/shares" field, causing Quicken to show inflated or deflated quantities. [1, 2, 3]

How to Fix the Incorrect Units

1. Change Your Quicken Tracking Method to Complete If your Vanguard account is accidentally stuck on "Simple" tracking, Quicken will try to guess your holdings and distort the units. [1, 2]

Go to your Vanguard account in Quicken, click the Gear icon, and select Edit Account Details.
Under the General tab, make sure the tracking method is set to Complete (Positions and Transactions). [1, 2, 3]

2. Manually Adjust the Downloaded TransactionBecause the data coming straight from Vanguard's server is flawed, you must manually edit the initial buy transaction to match your actual statement:

Based on those steps, it doesn't seem either would be possible in Quicken Simplifi. We don't offer simple vs. complete investing options, and investment transactions are completely separate from holdings and the Portfolio.

If you want to try the troubleshooting steps I mentioned, here they are in a step-by-step format, with linked articles that have detailed steps to follow for each action:

Navigate to the bank's website, sign in, and remove Quicken's access from the bank's third-party linked apps.
Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and make all of the accounts with this bank manual by following the steps here.
Once you see the account(s) listed in the Manual Accounts section under Settings > Accounts, go back through the Add Account flow to reconnect to the bank.
Carefully link the account(s) found to your existing Quicken Simplifi account(s) by following the steps here.

Let us know if this resolves the issue! If it doesn't, Support is your next best option (aside from manual tracking), so they can officially determine how to proceed.

Thanks for the detailed steps. I'm making the accounts manual one at a time. That fixed the valuation and T-bills don't change much in value so no real need for updates (cash like).

From my reading of help, the stock/ETF investments will continue to update their market price/value even when their parent account is set as manual? If that's correct, I find the term 'manual' a bit misleading as its only the holding units that need to be updated manually…just a suggestion!
