I may be using Savings Goals different than others, but I have them split out into two types:
1. Traditional savings goals such as Vacation, New Car, etc.
2. Infrequent, but expected, expenses such as yearly subscriptions, HOA fees, Auto Insurance.

I use the savings goals for a ton of things. I wish there was a little more flexibility with them that would allow me to have a goal with really no limit. That way i can use it for more of a bucket to hold money when i need it but then also have goals with a cap.
Example: My current goals
1. 6 month auto insurance
2. Summer and Winter Taxes
3. Registration and Plates
4. Medical Savings
5. My New Car Fund
6. Wife's new car fund
7. Yearly homeowners insurance
8. Yearly subscriptions (ring disney plus etc)
Those goals i would really never like to see stopped being taken out of my savings plan. Therefore the goals are put in rigth now with just have really unrealistic numbers.
Emergency fund is really the only goal i use that actually i would like to have a cap on it. But what i would like is that if the goal had money taken out of it we had the option to have it restart taking money from the spending plan.
Kind of long winded but I hope it makes sense.7 -
I agree with @Josh_Currier it would be great to have more flexibility with them. Right now, I have several goals: Disneyland Vacation, Emergency Medical, Unexpected Home Repairs, and Fun (which I don't really have a goal amount for; I just like using the savings goals to "hide" money for fun things). I would love not to set an amount but to use it more as a "bucket" to hold the funds. It's nice to see others using Savings Goals the same way I do!1
