Ability to create transactions from the details of scanned receipts (edited)

I am creating an idea post at the suggestion of Coach Natalie (here’s a link to that discussion: https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/comment/12537#Comment_12537 )

I’d love to be able to snap a photo to scan receipts and automatically create transactions for review while on the go.

For example, QuickBooks can scan receipts and it extracts the transaction info for matching. I only use that app for business. I’d love this functionality for Simplifi, which I’ve recently starting using for household finances.

There are other apps that can do this- Expensify is one. I believe Evernote is/was able to run OCR over the image to make text searchable. I can also use the notes app on my iPhone to snap photos of text and it will create a pdf with selectable/searchable text.

How convenient it would be if I could just scan in receipts and deal with completing and/or matching details later.

Do you have plans to read receipts and automatically fill in transaction fields? It would be great to even be able to split transactions into different categories.

    Hello @edcB,

Thank you for coming to the Community to share your feedback! Since there is already an existing request for this feature, I merged your request with the existing one.

    Thank you!

I have tried this on another product and it works great! It also splits the transaction and places notes for each transaction in the note field. I don’t think QS doesn’t allows for separate notes in splits.

Considering this idea was posted four years ago, and developers still have not developed a way to do this, is not cool.
Need to have a way to scan receipts on mobile, and it creates its own rules to categorize and post the date with the amount.
Then, another way to set up an email to send receipts directly to the program, with the same scanning and auto-filling ability.
These are not new or copyrighted abilities.
I was using Quicken in the 90s, and it was cutting-edge technology. Quicken today is not upholding its own name, I am sorry to say. I signed on for a year, and that time will be up soon. Thank you for your time.
