How does transaction matching actually work?
I chased a missing transaction, tied to a recurring bill, until I found it was matched in error with a previous manual transaction for the same bill. Simplifi Help says to create a new manual transaction, but instead I unmerged the two transactions. I’m afraid new manual will perpetuate the same issue. Please help me understand.

Hello @Matt Y,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community regarding this issue!
I'm not sure that I'm following the situation — do you have a Recurring Bill Series setup for the item in question? If so, is the previous manual transaction supposed to be part of the Series? And was it the Reminder for the Series that was missing, or was it a transaction?
It sounds like you may have just needed to edit the next Reminder instance in the Series to correct the date. If the previous manual transaction is supposed to be part of the Series, I'd suggest re-linking it so it's counted toward the Bills section of the Spending Plan for the appropriate month. You can then edit the next Reminder instance for the Series to the correct date, and then link the next transaction that occurs in the Series to that Reminder.
Please let us know how it goes!

I have a weekly bill for $73.
For 8/25 bill I created a manual transaction because I accidentally deleted the downloaded one. The 9/1 transaction went missing and bill showed unpaid. I eventually found it merged with the 8/25 manual. I unmerged them and linked 9/1 properly.
Will the software know better than do merge the next one?

Hello @Matt Y,
Thanks for posting back!
Simplifi is designed to automatically link upcoming Reminders to transactions at the time they download. It should link the transaction to the next Reminder in the Series, whether past due or for a current/future date. You can determine your upcoming Reminders by using the Projected Cash Flow/Upcoming section at the top of your account registers, or by navigating to the Upcoming page.
I hope this helps clear things up for you!
