American Express - Can't add "Banking"
Hello,
I've searched quite a bit and see lots of issues adding an American Express - High Yield Savings account to Simplifi. I too am having this problem, but I don't see "American Express - Banking" in the list.
I only have the following options:
I've tried the "Credit Card" and "Business Banking" entries, but both of those failed (and seem to use Finicity, not OAuth).
What's interesting is that with Finicity I get the security challenge correctly, but the process hangs from there. Earlier today the error stated that I should retry up to 5 times to allow devs to gather more debug data. Now I'm getting a 500 with this app error:
I've tried 2 different web browsers, I've disabled tracking cookies and all ad blockers. I've also tried adding it on my mobile phone.

I actually just saw a reply that AMEX is blocked on Mondays. That's really funny! I'll try again tomorrow.

Do you see that scrollbar on the right of the bank list? From what I can tell, you need to scroll down to see american express - banking, it's towards the bottom.

Ive scrolled down. It’s not in the list.
The manual entry links are what’s below in the screenshot.
Here’s another example from my phone app:

I see - okay, this is not something i can help with, then. I see it on my web version, but it's clearly not in your mobile app.

I’m not sure either. I thought maybe it’s a region issue but I’m in the US. Im not on VPN either. Also, I’m a new user

U.S. is, i believe, the only supported country. VPNs are not supported, some have said they cause login failures.
Just to show its there on my mobile app (android)

I tried this morning and I'm still not able to add American Express using the options available to me.
This is the error:

Are the coaches through the service support AI bots? I literally am receiving no help through customer service on this.
As a new Simplifi customer working through my free trial from mint, this isn't a great experience so far.3 -
@BitShift I don't believe they are AI Bots, but I have seen that much of Coach Natalie's interactions are done with 'templates'. I always see posts that start with the same wording, for example:
"Thanks for reaching out to the Community regarding this issue, although I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this behavior with" I saw repeated "at least" 28 times when i searched it, and there are multiple variations, and I suspect the times that's been used is much higher.
There was also a case recently where a template reply came posted with something like "(insert customer issue here)"
But this does help provide a consistent interaction, where people don't have to say "you said you were sorry to hear about their issue, but not mine."

@BitShift BTW - I know one of the usual steps with mobile app issues is to have you uninstall and reinstall the app, reboot your phone in between. At some point, after that, she will probably ask your operating system (IOS in your case) and version (I don't know). These are 'troubleshooting steps' before things get filed as a problem report typically. Feel free to try them now if you want and post your os/version if it doesn't work.
I can't file problem reports, or confirm this is 'all' she will ask. But if she asks, you can have this ready maybe in advance if you want.

@BitShift, thanks for reaching out to us regarding this issue!
For High Yield Savings accounts with American Express, we have an existing thread here, and the solution seems to be to use the "American Express Bank FSB" option to connect the account in Quicken Simplifi. However, it looks like you were set up on our Finicity aggregator (a very limited number of users are set up this way), and I'm pretty sure that's why the American Express options look different for you.
Unfortunately, I don't yet have access to the Finicity systems, nor am I sure why the bank options differ, so I'm stuck at the moment on being able to assist you with this. Once I have more insight and a clear path to take, I'll let you know. Hang tight for now — this has not been overlooked and we'll get things worked out for you!

Thank you so much Natalie! That does make sense seeing as I have not seen any OAuth prompts during the setup of all my accounts.
I should note that I’m still on the free trial from the Mint offer so perhaps that has something to do with it. Just taking a shot in the dark though.

@BitShift, thanks for your continued patience!
Sadly, I haven't been able to get anywhere with this. At this time, I'd suggest contacting our Support Team directly for more advanced assistance. If you contact Chat Support during business hours, you should get right through to someone.
I apologize for not being able to help!

I contacted them, but they insisted it was something wrong with my machine and kept asking to screen share. I told them over and over it happens from my iphone app and multiple computers. I even pointed them to this thread showing the screenshots. We just went in circles. They were no help.
It's obviously a server or account situation. :/0 -
Alright, it sounds like AMEX is disabled by them right now. I can't even add them to mint.
The link is probably still going to work for anyone who has enabled it in the past, which is probably why they can see it in the account list. Just some guesses though.
Does the American Express Savings site integrate with Mint or Quicken? At this time, American Express Savings does
not allow sites like Quicken or Mint to log in on behalf of our
customers. This protocol is in place to protect Savings customers’
personal information. Savings does allow you to download transactions so
that you can import them into sites like Quicken or Mint by following
these easy steps:- Log in to your American Express Savings account
- Select the "Documents tab" at the top of the page
- Click the "Download Transactions" link towards the top right of the page
- Select the account that you want to download
- Select the “Start Date”, “End Date” and “File Type” you wish to download
- Select 'Download'
0 - Log in to your American Express Savings account

@BitShift, we are still looking further into this for you. Once we obtain more info/find a resolution for you, @Coach Blake will be reaching out to assist. 😄

@BitShift Thank you for your patience while we looked into this for you. We have provided these details to our aggregation team and they are working on getting the connection fixed. As soon as we get an update we will let you know!
Thank you,
Coach Blake2 -
Thank you Natalie and Blake.
Just to provide more information, I'm giving Quicken Classic a try this week as well. I do see American Express - Banking, but also can't add it there. I was able to authenticate successfully, and I was able to receive their authorization text message and enter the code. But I get error CC-502.
This definitely seems like a them issue.

Today we were able to add our Amex Savings Account through the American Express - Banking option. I tried the Amex Bank FSB option and it didn't accept my username and password.
The process went as follows: added in username and password, asked for validation through email, asked for which accounts to add which included the savings account and two copies of the one credit card account we have, then asked for validation again, at which point it was set up.
