Some investment accounts have a cash sub-account that functions as a checking account. As such, the ability to split investment transactions into separate categories from the sub-accounts is crucial.

@Jack74 this sounds similar to the request to have accounts from Ally bank also expose the "buckets" or sub-accounts. Maybe the same code for both the Ally request and your request would solve the problem.

I would think this would have to be managed manually in some respect as Simplifi might not actually be able to pull these accounts as "real" accounts if the financial institution doesn't expose them as "real" accounts.

  • Currently I can split transactions in my regular bank accounts, but that feature is turned off in my Investment Accounts. Is it possible to turn the split feature on in my investment account transactions? There are times when I need to show multiple categories in some of my investment transactions. Thanks

Yes, please. At least for the Payment/Deposit type transaction, which by definition is a cash-type transaction.

FWIW you can get this done manually by recharacterizing the investment account as a banking account, causing the split, and then recharacterizing the account back to an investment account. Generally seems to work except that sometimes it will cause the other side of transfers to become "Uncategorized", and you can't see the splits/categories in the investment account (but they will show up in reports or when using filters).
