Why don't Chase transaction dates in Simplifi match the bank's dates (edited)

@EL1234, drats!
To reopen the ticket, I'll need new data as follows:
- The current name of the account the transactions reside in, as it appears in Simplifi.
- The Date, Payee, and Amount of 3-4 new example transactions that the issue is occurring with, as displayed in Quicken Simplifi.
- The Date that the transactions should be, according to Chase's website.
- A screenshot of the example transactions listed in Quicken Simplifi.
- A screenshot of the example transactions listed on Chase's website.
Please also submit fresh logs:
- Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
- Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
- With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
- Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.
Thank you!

Yup! That's what I was thinking. I'll give it a few more days until I have 3-4 transactions to show.

@EL1234, thanks for sending me the requested info!
I went ahead and got the ticket reopened and will let you know if our engineering team needs any further info from you. Otherwise, I will post back with updates!

@EL1234, hey again!
Our engineering team would like for you to grab screenshots of the transaction details from Chase's website for each of the example transactions that you last provided. If you're unsure of the examples provided, let me know and I can DM them to you. They said you can accomplish this by selecting the little right arrow ">" at the end of the transactions on Chase's website. It sounds like Chase has 2 different dates in their system, which was causing the issue, but they said they've now gotten them lined up so we need to see the date in the details.
Thank you!

Hi @Coach Natalie,
I just sent screenshots for the 3 transactions. Keep me posted - thanks!

@EL1234, thank you!
When viewing the detail view for those transactions, it looks like the date in Quicken Simplifi matches the Posted Date on the bank's website, which is by design. Are you wanting Quicken Simplifi to use the Transaction Date instead, or do you expect to see the date on the main transaction page of Chase's website match the Posted Date instead of the Transaction Date?
If the latter, this was a fix Chase was supposed to have put in on their end. Using this dummy transaction as an example, you'd see a date of 7/1/24 on Chase's main transaction activity page, which would match the Posted Date in the transaction detail view on Chase's website (instead of the Transaction Date), and also match the date in Quicken Simplifi —
Are you seeing this now on Chase's website? If not, it sounds like it may be a user-specific issue that you would need to address with Chase directly at this point. Otherwise, we have this Idea post you can vote on to have Quicken Simplifi use the Transaction Date instead of the Posted Date:
I look forward to your reply!

On Chase's website, the date listed in the transaction list matches the Transaction Date when you click the arrow to see the details.
This is the date I would like to see in Simplifi - the date that the transaction was made. Sometimes the transaction can take a couple of days to post (especially over the weekend, it seems), and then it makes no sense when I look at my transaction history - if I know that I was not in any stores on the date that Simplifi shows, I will worry that my card got stolen.

I voted for that idea but it surprises me that it even exists - I don't understand why anyone would want to see an arbitrary date rather than the date that the purchase was made. Looking through my transaction history, it seems that my American Express transactions show the date that the transaction was made, not the date that it was posted. Is this just a Chase thing?
Thanks

Incidentally, it seems that Chase uses the transaction date for Pending transactions, and then when the transactions clear, they get switched to the posted date. Very strange to me! (Though it wouldn't make sense to use the posted date for pending transactions since they haven't posted yet, and the posted date would be in the future.)

@EL1234, thanks for confirming!
I went ahead and got the escalation closed out since what you're seeing in Quicken Simplifi is the intended design. Thanks for voting for and adding your feedback to the Idea post I shared!

Hi,
I am experiencing the exact same issue in my Chase Credit Card accounts. This is ruining my experience with Simplifi and jeopardizing my monthly budgeting. I am considering switching to another product if the issue persists. Is there a solution to this issue? Can we ask Simplifi to pull the "Transaction Date" from Chase instead of the "Post Date" for cleared transactions?
From earlier posts, it seems like there was a similar issue with Wells Fargo that has been solved. Can't the same solution be applied to Chase?0 -
@fraymundo, thanks for posting on this topic!
Yes, Quicken Simplifi is designed to pull the posted date, not the transaction date. If you'd like to see the transaction date used instead, you'll want to add your vote and feedback to our request:
I hope this helps to clarify!

That one already had my vote, but with 20 votes since 2021 I'm not holding my breath for this to be changed sometime soon. It appears many users prefer posted dates. It might be nice to have an option to select (in settings) whether posted date or transaction date was used.

I went ahead and voted too. Unfortunately, I agreed that it is unlikely they will include this feature based on that feedback alone.
They are aware of the difference and made a choice of one (posted date) instead of the other (transaction date). It would be such an improvement to allow the user to make that choice.
For most transactions, it will not be a significance difference. But the difference for those closer to the end of the month do matter, since those expenses are only posted on the subsequent month which messes up the monthly budgets and reports.

@fraymundo You can always edit the dates manually -after- they clear, which will fix reports. It's not ideal, but it works.
