Incorrect account balance (again)

I don't have any bank accounts linked. These are all manually created accounts and manually entered transactions.

On this particular account I was having trouble reconciling my statement to the account balance reported by Simplifi. So, I export the account transactions from Simplifi to .csv then open up the data in Excel and sum the transaction values and lo and behold, the spreadsheet balance is correct and reconciles to my statements. Meanwhile, Simplifi continues to report a different and incorrect balance.

This is now the second time that I've found Simplifi reporting an incorrect account balance. The last time this happened the account balance total error magically fixed itself within 24 hours.

Why can't Simplifi report the correct account balance 100% of the time? What is going on under the hood that this keeps happening??? Correct account balances is the bare minimum of what I need from accounting software.

    Hello @Bernardo,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry you are having a tough time with this balance issue in Quicken Simplifi. Since this is a manual account, it may be easier and faster to recreate the manual account in Quicken Simplifi and remove the old one with the incorrect balance. If you have already exported to a CSV and confirmed the balance is correct there, you would probably be able to import that CSV into the new account. Let us know if that works for you!

    Thanks,

    Coach Jon

    Coach Jon,

You can't be serious. That is not an acceptable solution.

There is something fundamentally broken with how Simplifi calculates balances and this is a recurring problem. I could do as you suggest but we'd just be right back here in another few months.

Another example: Sometimes when I enter a manual transaction I have to click the refresh button in the Simplifi interface to get the total to update.

    Hello @Bernardo,

Thanks for your reply. We can go ahead and escalate this for you, I was just letting you know what the quicker solution was. To have this escalated, can we please have the information below, please? You may DM me this information if you wish.

    • The name of the account in question, as it appears in Quicken Simplifi.
    • The name of the account in question, as it appears on the bank's website.
    • A fresh screenshot of the balance for the account in Quicken Simplifi.
    • A screenshot of the balance displayed on the bank's website for a comparison.

We will also need logs as well. The directions to provide logs can be found below:

    1. Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
    2.  Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
    3.  With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
    4.  Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    Thank you,

    Coach Jon

And just as has happened previously, today the balance on the account is correct. No changes on my side. Something is screwed up with Simplifi's ability to reliably calculate balances. I'm getting tired of the bugs with this software.

If a developer actually wants to track down this bug they can simply compare real time calculated account balances to the cached account balance. They will have no problem finding discrepancies and I would bet money this is a data caching/invalidation issue which is why it self resolves after a set amount of time.

    Hello @Bernardo,

Thanks for the reply! I believe that our product team is already aware of and working on the issue at a global level at this time due to other escalations for manual account balance discrepancies.

We do thank you for your patience in this matter!
