Ability to assign different Payees to Split Transactions (edited)

For my ATM withdrawals, I'd like to be able to split the amount but also specify different payee's for the splits.

Currently you can only specify a different category and tag for each split. Please allow us to give a different payee for the splits.

    Hello @esender,

Thanks for your idea post! In your case, I would honestly suggest tracking your ATM withdrawals using the steps in the "How do I Track Cash in Quicken Simplifi" Article: https://help.simplifimoney.com/en/articles/5784052-how-do-i-track-cash-in-quicken-simplifi

Tracking your cash this way enables an easier way to verify how much cash you have available. I hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Coach Jon

Idea: When you split a transaction, being able to label (rename) the transaction two different names. For example, if you buy from Walmart groceries and shoes and then need to split the total transaction (e.g., $50 for groceries, and $20 for clothing-shoes) then you should be able to label the split separately (e.g., Walmart- groceries; Walmart-clothes). It would help to be able to name transactions so it keeps a clear record for when you look back on purchases.

Hi! I would like to be able to use multiple payees for a single transaction in the case of split transactions in the same way that I can split transactions into multiple categories. This is helpful, for example, in the case where a single bank deposit includes income from multiple sources.

I would use this for deposits as well (sometimes I run separate ATM deposits for each check to avoid this but it's annoying).

For cash withdrawals I have a manual "Cash" account that the withdrawals are categorized as a transfer to, and then I can add manual transactions for wherever and whenever I spend cash. (I usually just do this for larger purchases.)

Hi, @Coach Jon! Just following up on this. I’m glad to see the new additions to the splits function, allowing for the addition of notes for each split. Could y’all also allow us to provide separate payees for each split? This would be really helpful for bank deposits that include income from multiple sources. Right now, I either have to make separate deposits for each income source or make a “miscellaneous” payee. Using the notes function is helpful, but I’d really like to tie the transactions to existing payees. Thank you!

I enter all the payees like this

John Doe / Jane Smith / Bob Jones.

It's a little clumsy but it works. At least now we can use Notes separately for each! Separate payees would be very convenient though.

What I do is transfer the ATM to my cash account and then enter transactions for the different payees.

I get $300 and it goes to Cash. Then I give my wife $100 or $200 of it. I keep up with my cash expenditures but not hers. Her category is Spending. My cash transactions could be anything and I enter them as I go.

That's an interesting approach! I usually have a problem when depositing multiple checks that you can't link an individual split to a recurring reminder (income). I wonder if I should try that out. But I'd probably keep it separate from my Cash account and make a separate account just for that. I just have to figure out the cash flow part of it since the recurring reminders would need to be in the other account (or I guess I could change the account after marking it as paid).

I usually end up doing separate ATM transactions when depositing multiple checks if they need to be linked to recurring reminders. This might work better. Of course it'd be just my luck if I set this up and then they add in the ability to set payees and link to recurring for each split item :)

Rereading the OP talking about ATM withdrawals, that's exactly what I do for cash. I transfer to my cash account and then make transactions as they happen. I also reconcile every so often to make sure that the cash I have on hand is the amount that Simplifi thinks I have, and make adjustments if needed.

My bigger issue is with ATM deposits.
