Coinbase FDP-103 No API Keys Work
Comments
-
We are still waiting. It seems ridiculous that Simplfli can't support a connection to the biggest Cyprto brokerage in the country.
2 -
@Coach Natalie will there be any semblance of customer support on this? The lack of any updates or progress at all on this issue for a year is really concerning
2 -
We've all been patient enough. It's been basically a year without connectivity to Coinbase which is absolutely absurd considering this is a paid service which recently had a major price increase as well…
Are there going to be any updates on this or will you continue to leave your paying customers in the dark?1 -
For the customers with this issue, please help by reporting it daily. Simplifi Team [removed] there have been numerous reports by your paying customers on this advertised feature of yours dating back months. [removed - disruptive]

Hello everyone,
The issue with Coinbase no longer offering Legacy API Keys is still ongoing and being worked on. As soon as we have any news to share, our Alert will be updated:

Quite frankly, this is beyond insulting to your customers. This is in no way an update on this year long issue with Coinbase, but just another copy-paste response with no actual information.
Unfortunately it seems the only thing the Quicken Simplifi team has successfully accomplished for a year is demonstrating they don’t care to support their customers or maintain a functional product.
Not going to give up asking for support on this although at this point there is virtually no chance I’d renew based on the terrible customer care

My patience is running out on this one, and the copy/paste "updates" and locking the original threads is getting really old. Its clear that this isn't a priority and isn't on the dev roadmap for the foreseeable future, so just SAY THAT.
Coinbase is not some oddball, tiny player. This issue needs some ACTUAL attention.
I won't be renewing without movement on this.
4 -
be careful, they’ll likely remove your post within 24 hours for no reason

Just tried to connect Coinbase and found my way to this thread. +1 to being a user who wants to track their Coinbase assets in Simplif. Major US exchange and disappointing to see there is not a solution to this.

Just got an email from Coinbase saying they are retiring legacy keys on 2/5 so even though of us with legacy keys will no longer receive updates. Just as an FYI - I generated a new key a couple hours ago and connected fine with a simple Python script in minutes.
2 -
I just saw this email as well. This is one of many reasons I am hesitant to renew. Can you at least provide a general ETA on this being changed to support the new keys? The response thus far has been lackluster
2 -
After a few attempts with the new Coinbase key to connect, I've stumbled upon this thread.
I'm shocked in the lack of priority this integration has received. @sami has been doing a wonderful job at maintaining this thread and the urgency of issue.
With the sunset of the legacy API keys from Coinbase, Quicken should hire me as a contractor to address. Let's get this fixed!

Just joining in here to monitor. I too am anticipating the sunset of the legacy keys and would like to keep my coinbase assets in simplify.
Thanks for all your efforts here.

[Action Required] Create your CDP API Key
Coinbase is frequently assessing security risk and as a result, will be expiring legacy Coinbase App API keys. As a reminder, your Coinbase App API keys will expire starting February 5, 2025, and you will need to create a new Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) API key for any API connections to your Coinbase retail account.
Create your CDP API key in a few simple steps:
- To create your CDP API key, go to Coinbase API settings page and select “Create API key”
- Follow instructions to create and download your new CDP API key
Migrate your existing API integrations:
- If you connect a third-party application to your Coinbase account via API keys, you’ll need to reconnect using your new CDP API keys to not lose access after February 5
- If you’re a developer, see our documentation on how to update your integration to use CDP API key authentication before February 5
If you encounter any difficulties during the transition process or have any questions, please contact us on our Discord channel.

Is the dev team aware the legacy API keys will stop working on February 5? We have one week left and the lack of updates is concerning.
3 -
Thanks @DJayFresh ! Us customers continue facing this issue, it has been over a year and Quicken Simplifi team has made zero effort in resolving.
3 -
In my opinion, they will never resolve this.
1 -
this is embarrassing
2 -
Hello everyone! We appreciate the updates and the feedback, and we definitely understand how frustrating this issue is for you all.
I can assure you that this issue is being actively worked on. We don't have an ETA on a resolution or any additional insight as of yet but we will be sure to update our Alert as soon as we do. Please be sure to follow the Alert for updates!
Thank you all for your continued patience!

Wow. Yet another utterly meaningless "update" from Simplifi.
This has been broken for over a year and the support paying customers are getting is some of the worst I've ever seen.
We don't have an ETA on a resolution or any additional insight as of yet
How is that an acceptable answer to this major crypto exchange being broken on your platform over a year? How many more years will this take to fix, will it even be fixed?
How do you have no insight or details on this? There has been no movement or real update on this at all, is it even actually being worked on or is that just misdirection? If it is being worked on why is there zero to show for it for such an absurdly long time?
5 -
Honestly might just pay for CoinStats instead. It's one thing to not list a Crypto exchange, it's an entirely other ballpark to list this as an institution to add and it just flat out not work.

Why is it that other, smaller operations like Koinly can set up their API's to simply log into Coinbase and grant read only authorization for transactions and account values, BUT Quicken can't figure this out?
You can keep thanking me for my continued patience…until I go out and find a different solution that actually works for me. It's not like there hasn't been a year since you knew Legacy keys were going away…and here we are at the drop dead date for legacy keys with NO SOLUTION.
2 -
I have my Simplifi account set to expire in 7 days. This not working is actually a large part of why. As was said by others we got yet ANOTHER meaningless update about this. I guarantee you when things start failing for existing users who don’t know this changed you’ll hear more noise than just the handful of people on here.

[Action Required] Create your CDP API Key
As we’ve previously communicated, we will begin expiring legacy Coinbase App API keys today and you will need to create a new Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) API key for any API connections to your Coinbase retail account.
Create your CDP API key in a few simple steps:
- To create your CDP API key, go to Coinbase API settings page and select “Create API key”
- Follow instructions to create and download your new CDP API key
Migrate your existing API integrations:
- If you connect a third-party application to your Coinbase account via API keys, you’ll need to reconnect using your new CDP API keys
- If you’re a developer, see our documentation on how to update your integration to use CDP API key authentication
If you encounter any difficulties during the transition process or have any questions, please contact us on our Discord channel.

AFAIK, the CDP API keys don't work. Only the now deprecated legacy keys.
Going on a week without Coinbase syncing for me… Not happy.

I know. I'm just baffled by the lack of movement on this. Going from "checking Simplifi daily" to "exploring other options."
1 -
What makes this even worse is that the solution is literally in the links above, including the code changes that need to be made.
There it is again in case the developers missed it.

@Friedie I sat down Friday at 10 AM and started writing code against an API for HelpScout's customer service platform. By 2 PM I had finished writing an entire Python wrapper that included every endpoint they have in the documentation. This kind of thing is that easy to do. And I didn't even use ChatGPT. The Oauth schema Coinbase has is exactly the same as pretty much every Oauth schema for every suite of APIs I have dealt with including Google, Slack, MSO and my company's proprietary APIs.
The front end of Simplifi is already built. No way it takes a competent engineer longer than a day to write the back end for getting data from Coinbase and a QA engineer longer than a couple days to test.
