Balance Adjustment Only Modifies Balance While "Pending"
I recently found a discrepancy between my checking account balance reported in Simplifi and the balance reported by my bank. The discrepancy is not explained by pending transactions or savings goals/available balance.
Although Simplifi does not have a running balance column, I back calculated a running balance for the past year using transactions from Simplifi and they match my bank, only the current balance has a discrepancy.
I am trying to use a "Balance Adjustment" transaction to clean up the discrepancy. However, this only corrects the balance when it is still set as "Pending". As soon I set this adjustment to "Cleared", the current balance for the account reverts to the incorrect value.
How can I correct the current balance of this account if Balance Adjustments are not working?

@LH13, thanks for posting to the Community!
Since Quicken Simplifi is designed to stay in line with your bank balance if the account is connected, a balance adjustment transaction wouldn't be the solution here. The only time a transaction can be counted toward the balance provided by the bank is if it's "pending" in Quicken Simplifi, which seems to align with what you're seeing.
With that, it sounds like you're experiencing a balance discrepancy in Quicken Simplifi, and the issue will need to be looked at from that angle. Our support article here has some steps for troubleshooting balance discrepancies:
If the issue persists, please provide more info:
- The name of the bank the issue is occurring with.
- The type of account the issue is occurring with.
- Confirm whether this is the only bank and/or account with the issue.
- More details on the discrepancy, such as the amount difference, whether there are any pending transactions in Quicken Simplifi or on the bank's website that could be impacting things, etc.
We look forward to your reply!

Thanks for the helpful feedback. The issue seems to have resolved itself despite no new transactions having occurred, but I'm glad to see the balances matching now. The use of the pending balance adjustment for future cash flow planning purposes makes sense.
Thanks again, it's really helpful how active you are in answering community questions!

there exists a current known issue whereby balances are incorrect until the second refresh (every 4-6 hours at most often) after they happen. This might be what you experienced.
