I'll dare to share my current Chase balance info to show this problem exists on their website and not simply on Quicken Simplifi…

I showed the screen with and without the balance details, all balance info is since Dec. 20 statement.

In the bottom Window, the pop-up seems to indicate, $91.57 in payments (shown as pending) is included in the balance, and a $0.36 charge (shown as pending) is included in the balance..

If it's in the balance, it shouldn't be shown as pending.

I tried messaging Chase about this, but i couldn't get past the special character check which prevented me from sending anything. Last I wrote they told me 'transactions clear in real time.' That's clearly not true.

I fear that Chase will say this is a timing issue. What is your actual balance? I see you make multiple payments per day. I normally just pay once when I have used the card. Sometimes it is one Amazon charge but often it is 2-3. I send the payment late afternoon and it is credited the next day, but I don't think any of these payments are ever then pending.

I pay at the Chase site with an ACH from my local bank account. If I remember correctly, you do a transfer from your Chase Checking so this means it is instantaneous, but obvious they do it as pending for a while although there is no doubt they have the funds. So you basically do an in-house transfer.

"Timing issue" is the problem, they tell me things clear in "real time" in which case there should be no timing issues.

I do an in-house transfer, yes. For building credit, I absolutely know it's better to -have- a balance on statement date so it shows you are using the cards on the credit report. However, I'm kind of neurotic, in that i use the card strictly to earn rewards and protection, and ohterwise pay off the charges as soon as I make the charges. It's kind of like using my credit card -as- a debit card, but with a layer in between for rewards and protection.

"Current Balance" shown above is a $92.37 credit (marked negative, which here means credit)

Actual balance when all pending transactions clear should be closer to zero if i did it right.

My feeling is since the accounts are at the same bank, it is real time (same is true for me with Capital One Bank but I only have checking and savings and no credit card), but there is a software lag. These banks don't understand people like us who want things right immediately. Most of their customers just wait for the bill and then pay it; they never really know if what they are paying is right or not.

I haven't noticed any problems with my Chase card other than Simplifi and Classic updating balance before transactions.

For me, it's Simplifi. Classic AND Chase.com updating balance before transactions.

I agree with everything you said, though

Online, my Chase balance seems to reflect transactions correctly. However, in Simplifi, the "pending tooltip" doesn't match the actual list of pending transactions.

@EL1234 Any chance you are on the left coast? Chase website seems most wrong for me prior to 10am et on their website, that’s 7am on the left.

A pending transaction (income) which used to be a reminder is missing from the tooltip. Is this due to the issue which has been determined to be on Chase's side?

Since the reminder no longer gets reflected in my balance with pending, or displays on my cash flow projection, this throws my balance into the negative.

Sounds like the same issue, also, you reported that outside of banking hours. Try a refresh after 11am and it might be better. Sometimes it is right after 9am but 11am is more reliable. Keepin mind the 4-6 hour refresh rule.

And now my tooltip is correct but my balance is still off by the amount of that transaction.

What's weird to me is that sometimes the tooltip is wrong and sometimes it's right but the balance is still off. Is this all one problem? Seems like it might be more than one…

The tooltip generic issue was corrected. There was some kind of Chase specific error, and it has been so long, I forgot what it was or if they told us.

I am aware that the generic tooltip issue was fixed, that's why I found it interesting that my tooltip was wrong a couple of days ago.

Okay, I'm seeing progress, and I'm crediting Chase with the changes.

Today, my Quicken Simplifi balance with Chase seemed to stay exact most of the day "(if not the whole day).

Previously, as I believe I pointed out, Chase was counting some pending transactions towards the 'current balance' and some not on the website—- today that doesn't seem to be the case. The pending charges on Chase.com are completely separate from the current balance (at least for my credit card). I have 2 pending charges, and one payment, and the balance does not reflect them (as you would expect) but instead they are listed as pending with a pending total.

I feel like my note to Chase Customer Support may have helped that, I'm thrilled I may have helped get this noticed.

I hope this is an actual fix, and not just a 'it happened to work today' kind of thing.

Previously, when I would make a payment, it would immediately update the balance, that was not what happened today, so I presume this is an actual change.
