Adding Crypto Currency Transactions Manually

I have some crypto currency in coinbase and I see the problems others are having adding that with the API keys so I'm just doing a manual "other" investing type account and trying to add the coins I bought manually in the transactions page. They are very common and supported ones ETHUS and BTCUS.

The transactions are all there - money xferred in from checking and they BUY transactions all listed in the transactions tab, but the portfolio, balances, and performance tabs are all empty for this account in the dropdown.

    Hello @Diver4242,

What you are seeing is expected behavior. Manually inputting transactions into an investment account will not impact the Portfolio, Balances, or Performance tabs. Please see this article on investment transactions for more information:

In order to get information showing in those other tabs, you will need to add holdings to the investment account. To do that, please follow these steps from this article on tracking investments:

    1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Investments.
    2. Click the blue + Holding button.
    3. Select the Account you'd like to add the Holding to.
    4. Make sure the Stocks or options tab is selected.
    5. Enter the Company name, the Shares quantity, and the Price per share. You can also enter the Total cost to track gains.
Note: If you select a valid Ticker Symbol from the drop-down menu when entering the Company name, the Price per share will automatically be entered at the latest quote price.
    6. Click Add when done.

If you need to track a cash balance in the account, you would follow these steps from the same article:

    1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Investments.
    2. Click the blue + Holding button.
    3. Select the Account you'd like to add the Cash to.
    4. Select the Cash tab.
    5. Enter the Total cash and click Add when done.

Once you've added holdings and/or a cash balance, you may need to update or delete them. To do that, follow these directions from that same article:

    1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Investments.
    2. Locate the Holding or Cash you'd like to edit or delete, hover over it, and then click the three dots at the end of it.
    3. To edit the Holding or Cash, click Edit, make the necessary changes, and click Update when done; to delete the Holding or Cash, select Delete and then click Delete Holding or Delete Cash to confirm.

    I hope this helps!

I think I was trying Add Holding but every time I put the "company name" in (ETHUS or BTCUS) it would put its own share price in and lock that so I couldn't alter it. That's not what the share price was when I bought last week! How to put the correct information in?? From your web page:

Note: If you select a valid Ticker Symbol from the drop-down menu when entering the Company name, the Price per share will automatically be entered at the latest quote price.

Why is this a "feature" when people would want to pay the price they paid to track earnings/growth?

Also, I went through all the trouble of finding these transaction details, entered them into the Simplifi manual investing account transactions, and now I have to manually enter all that AGAIN? Why can't you just use what I entered? If your broken coinbase integration would be fixed (finally) this wouldn't be necessary. Also your PA 529 integration, still broken. Wondering why I'm continuing to pay for this product.

    Thank you for your replies,

The value it fills in is based off of the current value it sees associated with that symbol. The Total Cost box is where you can document the cost basis (the price that you paid for the shares at the time of purchase).

If you would like to see transactions in manual investment accounts impact the Portfolio, Balances, and Performance tabs, then I recommend creating an Idea post to request that change. Ideas that get enough votes may be implemented in the future! For instructions on creating an Idea post, please click the link below:

    Thank you!
