Hidden Investments [Transactions] showing up in the Spending Plan Income section

The additional issue I have is the I'm getting Hidden Investments showing up in the Spending Plan Income section. While they don't affect numbers, visually, I have a long list of transactions that really shouldn't be listed in the Spending plan in the first place, hence why I'm just considering to delete my Investment accounts from QS.

Hello @Max1223,
I split this post into its own discussion since it's a bit off topic for the idea thread. When did you first notice your investment transactions showing up in the Income section? When you say they're hidden, do you mean you have to click the eye icon to see them? Is this happening with newly downloaded transactions, manually entered transactions, downloaded transactions that have been edited after they downloaded, etc? Do you have any reminders set up for these investment transactions? Are these transactions being posted as deposits in any of your banking accounts?
Would you please post a screenshot of those transactions that are showing up in the Income section of your Spending Plan? Please make sure to redact any personal information.
I look forward to your reply!

Here are the steps
- I opened my Spending plan to find many transaction that were gray. Note I do not change Investment transactions nor have rules to make changes.
- I open Investment Transactions and found the Personal Income entries that were showing up in the Spending Plan
- QS incorrectly labelled the Action column as Personal Income as determined by checking entries in my Schwab account
- I manually changed the Action column to the correct label
- This removed the data from the Spending Plan
- Upon my next login, I found the same list of the same manually changed transactions back in the Spending Plan
- Upon research found these links where others were having similar issues:
SUMMARY:
- QS is incorrectly labelling the Action column from Schwab
- Upon a manual change, QS reimports/duplicates the transaction
At this point:
- I will not manually change Investment transactions as I know I will see duplicates later
- I am considering deleting Investment Accounts due to the errors and inaccuracies others are finding
- I wish that QS would implement the "simple view" of Investments per the thread above to maintain Account totals and Net Worth.
- If QS can't fix the bug or offer a "simple view", then I'll likely remove the Investment Accounts all together as I can find Net Worth in other products I use
Hope this helps @Coach Kristina

Thank you for your reply,
Based on your description of the issue, it sounds like the transactions are incorrectly showing up in the Spending Plan because they are downloading with an incorrect Action. That said, investment accounts are usually excluded from the Spending Plan. To check if the account is not excluded, please go to settings (the gear icon near the lower left in the web app, or at the bottom of the hamburger menu in the mobile app), select Accounts, then click or tap on the 3 dots to the right of the account to verify that it is excluded.
The issue with transactions duplicating after the Action has been edited is a known issue (SIMPL-23341). The issue is being worked on, but we do not have an ETA.
Thank you!

Yes, all of the Investment Transactions are Excluded from Spending Plan and Reports. They are grayed out in Spending Plan though per the original image.
This image is from Accounts 3 dots on the Schwab account

@Coach Kristina One question, in the case I want to delete my Investment accounts, will doing this also delete the already downloaded transactions? I'd assume yes, but want to be sure. This is would be the only way to have them stop showing up in the Spending Plan as it seems there is a bug there too.
I'm seeing there issues:
- (SIMPL-23341) duplication of transactions upon editing Actions
- Incorrect labelling of Actions coming from Schwab
- Grey Investment transactions showing in Spending Plan even though "exclude" boxes are both checked.
thanks for you help

Thank you for your replies,
Yes, if you delete your investment accounts, it will also delete all the transactions that have already downloaded.
If you don't want to lose that transaction history, you can make the investment account a manual account. For information on making an account manual, please see this article:
Thank you for confirming that the investment account is set to exclude transactions from the Spending Plan!

Is it possible for you to comment on these two? Does QS recognize them as issues/bugs?
- Incorrect labelling of Actions coming from Schwab
- Grey Investment transactions showing in Spending Plan even though "exclude" boxes are both checked.

@Max1223, thanks for the follow-up!
It is my understanding that we can't do anything further for investing actions downloading as Payment/Deposit's, or vice versa, as the financial institution is who provides the data this way. Instead, we'd recommend manually editing the action to correct it, though I know doing so currently results in duplicate Investment Transactions downloading (re: here).
For your section question, yes, excluded items will still show in the Spending Plan, but will be greyed out. This is by design and is outlined in our support article here:
However, we have a request to change this that you can vote for!
I hope this helps!

Hi Coach…
I just want to make sure you realize that your post to @Max1223 doesn't help.
…"we can't do anything further for investing actions downloading as Payment/Deposit's, or vice versa, as the financial institution is who provides the data this way"
If they provide the data "this way" why can't Simp add more categories to Investments? I can work with that.
I have been saying this since for over 10 months… If Schwab can't change, why can't Simp adapt?? Why can't Simp shake software hands and produce a usable product that doesn't produce more work than it saves?
Happy New Year…

Let us at least do reports that can be sorted by Actions. All the categories are already there.
In the Report "breakdown" let us sort by Action and filter by category and / or payee. Something like that?

Hi @Coach Natalie fyi, the transaction is actually labelled correctly from Schwab: Action = Short Sell
Here is the screen shot from my Investment Register:
So as you can see, the Financial Information from Schwab looks correct and it seems that QS has labelled it incorrectly.

@Max1223, thanks for the follow-up!
Yes, that seemed to be the issue prior — the bank/brokerage shows a certain action, but the transactions come into Quicken Simplifi as 'Payment/Deposit'. Other users reported the issue in our old feedback post:
If I recall correctly, it was determined that the financial institutions provide the data this way. However, I'm not finding the ticket to confirm, and it has been a while, so I'm thinking we could most likely escalate it again to see if we can gain any additional insight. I can't promise a resolution, but we can at least get the issue in front of the appropriate parties. Let me know if you'd like to proceed and I will let you know what info we need from you.

@Coach Natalie Yes, I'm interested in following up. Thanks

@Max1223, here is the info we will need from you:
- The name of the account the transactions reside in, as it appears in Quicken Simplifi.
- The Date, Security, Action, and Amount of 3-4 example transactions the issue is occurring with (according to the bank's website).
- A screenshot of these transactions from the bank's website.
- A screenshot of the Transaction Detail view for each of these transactions in Quicken Simplifi (this is easiest taken from the Web App, as you can get all of the details in one image).
Please also submit your logs via the 'Send Feedback' option:
- Log into the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
- Select Profile from the left-hand navigation bar.
- With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key for Mac or the Alt key for Windows, and then click Send Feedback.
- Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.
Thank you!

@Coach Natalie Thanks for this, I prefer not to send you all my personal data to get this fixed, sorry. I think I'll just end up deleting the accounts and hope that a "simple" version of having Investments becomes a feature one day.
