Funds from deleted savings goal still appear in the source account

I created a savings goal, made a $4800 contribution, and then changed my mind. I deleted the goal but the funds were not returned to the source account. The contribution still appears on my dashboard. I logged out and logged back in, and refreshed the page, but this didn't solve the problem. Thanks for your help!

    There have been other reports similar to this.

    Both of the discussions below end with the advice to follow a particular alert, but when I try to access that alert it tells me I don't have permission to see it. Not sure why that is.

    Thanks @DryHeat. I can''t access the alert either.

    @Coach Natalie asked me to create this post to separate this issue from another so they could be tracked separately. Ironically, the recommended action for my other issue is to delete the problematic savings goal, which is likely to trigger the problem this post pertains to.

    Natalie, it looks like you created the alert that @DryHeat refers to. Since we don't have permissions to see it, can you please provide an update?

    NEW 9/30/25: Deleted Savings Goals still showing in accounts

    We are currently seeing an issue where deleted Savings Goals are still showing in account balances in Quicken Simplifi. This is a known issue that we are working to resolve as quickly as possible. We currently have no ETA to provide on when a resolution can be expected, but will post updates as soon as we do.

    If you would like to be automatically notified of any updates regarding this issue, please "bookmark" this Alert by clicking the bookmark ribbon in the upper right corner.

    Thank you!

    Hello @lindsayla18 and @DryHeat,

    Thanks for reaching out! The alert you both mentioned has been resolved and archived, which is why you can't access it. That issue was resolved last year and is not relevant to anything currently happening.

    @lindsayla18, Can you please try accessing Quicken Simplifi in a separate web browser to see if the Savings Goal still appears in your account list? And if it is, does this issue occur only for that goal, or for every goal?

    Hi @Coach Jon. I see the same dashboard values in Chrome (primary browser), Safari, and the iOS app.

    My original problem, as reported at the top of this post, appears to have resolved itself. This problem started when I deleted a savings goal but the funds were not returned to my account. Over the following 24 hours, the funds were returned to the account, then they were back in a savings goal, and then they were returned to the account again. That's where things stand as of now.

    Meanwhile, I was asked by Natalie to delete a different savings goal and create a new one, because the original was "acting funky" and, as it seems with a lot of savings goal issues, this is the default course of action. Here's the thread related to that issue: Amount available to withdraw is negative for savings goal (edited).

    The intermittent nature of the problem reported on this thread makes me reluctant to delete the other savings goal, because it seems likely the funds in that goal will not be handled properly. And I can't even withdraw the funds myself because of the "funky" problem with the savings goal. @Coach Natalie's latest post on that thread says, "we'd likely want to wait on deleting and re-creating until we can figure out what's going on with deleted goal contributions still showing in your accounts."

    I feel like I'm stuck in a do loop with no way out.

    Hello @lindsayla18,

    Thanks for the reply! To confirm, are you stating the issue that was reported in this post is currently resolved? If so, I am glad things were able to be fixed. It seems this might just be a timing thing in that case. Be sure to let us know if this occurs again so that we can establish further cases of it happening.

    @Coach Jon the issue reported is resolved. But the root cause of this issue, whatever it is, still exists.

    The problem occurred again this morning with a different savings goal. As mentioned in my previous post, in response to a different issue I was asked to delete and re-create a savings goal. I was reluctant to do that because of the issue I reported here, but just now I went ahead and deleted the goal. Sure enough the funds were not returned to the source account.

    It's possible the balance adjustment will happen sometime today, so I will watch and report back.

    Hello @lindsayla18,

    Thank you for the clarification. As I mentioned previously, this sounds like it is just taking some time for the funds to return after deleting a savings goal. To confirm, do you know how long this generally takes? I ask because I am unable to reproduce this issue on my end. Let us know!

    @lindsayla18

    This doesn't happen with every Savings Goal, but it seems to keep happening. So I want to ask you about something that may (or may not) make a difference.

    Did you withdraw the funds from the Savings Goal before you deleted it? I think it works better if you withdraw first, then delete … but I'm not completely sure about that.

    BTW, I understand that you have sometimes been prevented from withdrawing the funds because of another issue. So the "withdraw first, then delete" option may not have been available to you.

    @Coach Jon , I don't know how long it usually takes. Several hours, at least. The goal I deleted 4 hours ago hasn't yet returned funds to my account.

    But wait! In the time it took me to write the rest of this post, the funds were returned to my account. This 4-hour delay feels right, considering the other times this has occurred in the past few days.

    @DryHeat:

    You may be on to something. For the savings goal that began this post, I didn't withdraw the funds first. For the one I deleted this morning, I was unable to withdraw the funds first because of the other issue I was experiencing with that goal. So in both cases, there were funds in the savings goal when it was deleted.

    Hello @lindsayla18,

    I am glad the funds were returned once again. This confirms my suspicion that it is just taking some time for the funds to appear correctly. Regarding @DryHeat's inquiry, it does sound like a good idea to try to see if withdrawing the funds first works better in this case.

    @lindsayla18

    This 4-hour delay feels right, considering the other times this has occurred in the past few days.

    Interesting… becase the typical minimum delay between updates to accounts is about 4 hours.

    Maybe the correction to the Savings Goal amount attributed to a particular account is tied to whatever process is used to update the account itself. In other words, correcting the "available balance" may be done in the same time-delayed process that downloads transactions and current balances from the bank.

    If that is so, I think it is something we can live with (although it's not ideal). But I personally have given up on Savings Goals until I see that problems like this are no longer being reported.

    I am glad the funds were returned once again. This confirms my suspicion that it is just taking some time for the funds to appear correctly. Regarding @DryHeat's inquiry, it does sound like a good idea to try to see if withdrawing the funds first works better in this case.

    So this is how I'd sum up the current theory about this issue:

    • When a savings goal is deleted funds are not immediately returned to the source account, and may be tied to the periodic (every 4 hours?) process that downloads transactions and current balances from the bank.
    • Users can avoid this delay by withdrawing funds from the savings goal before deleting it.

    Like @DryHeat, I can live with this but it's not the way savings goals should function.

    I'd like to see this treated as a bug with appropriate escalation but I sense there is zero energy to do so. Is that correct @Coach Jon ?

    Hello @lindsayla18,

    Thanks for the reply! Since I cannot reproduce this issue on my end, we would need to rely on you to reproduce the issue in order to escalate. However, you stated this issue was resolved for you after some time with the funds returning. We would need you to create another savings goal, delete it, and then verify whether the funds are still not returning.

    If the issue persisted on your end, we would grab your web browser and operating system details, screenshots, or a screen recording showing the issue from your end, and we would also need logs to be submitted:

    1. Log in to the Quicken Simplifi Web App.
    2. Select the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    3. With the Profile menu open, hold down the Option key (Mac) or the Alt key (Windows), and then click Send Feedback.
    4. Leave all boxes checked, add a brief description of the issue, and then click Send.

    If you do wish to proceed with escalating this issue and follow the steps above, be sure to let us know!
