Balance Issues with Citi (edited)

Maybe the part that marks transactions as matched to the bank for the purposes of the bubble/tooltip has to be triggered to update AFTER a bank sync. I haven't really seen their code, but I know I'm close to understanding what they're doing wrong. Decades ago, I was a QRE (Quality & Reliability Engineer), and I fixed bugs in other people's code for a living.

→ That makes sense.

@RobWilk I agree. There should be a way to force recalculations. I think there is probably something already built in with manual accounts to do this since they get fixed in a few hours when they go haywire.

Continuing the CITIBANK related issue on Balances:
The balance should be $0 (it is at the Bank site).
Showing:
My related spending which should total $0:
Note: The Burger King charge, which I believe cleared 5 days ago, is the charge showing in the "Pending" amount in the top right. Prior to this morning, it was showing a $0 balance, so this was right but became wrong.
The $11.09 is allegedly coming from my "pending" transactions in my dataset, but they are not pending in my dataset. We established that that number does not come from the bank. The bug is that it thinks i have pending transactions when i don't, this is not related to data downloaded from the bank.

It happened in my Chase account again this morning. A large payment posted today and shows as Cleared but is also counted in the tooltip, throwing my "balance" into the red. What's interesting is that I don't think that payment was every Pending, it definitely wasn't there last night. And two other (smaller) payments that were Pending yesterday and Cleared today are not included in the tooltip.

And now, new behavior! The cleared payment from this morning is no longer counted in the pending tooltip, however, a new pending transaction came in and it's not counted in the tooltip either! I don't think I've seen that before.

I'm not sure if this is new or not, it seems different:
The "$306.35" appears to be a POSITIVE (addition) pending charge - The balance at the bank is a $.60 credit, not factoring in pending charges.
But because I accidentally paid back the wrong amount, that matches the REVERSE (negative) amount of a charge, but it doesn't match a credit:
PenFed Gold was the card here, not that I think this is account specific.
Incidentally, I took out $300 + $6.95 fee at the casino from this card (because my Chase debit card doesn't work there), and left the casino with $460 which is slightly more than I went with.

I'll keep posting examples:
Bank balance $0
Simplifi:
Related charges (I seem to be exposing all my spending in this topic, it's not that bad anyway):
All of which is clear in Simplifi.
Account: PenFed PSR (Platinum Signature Rewards)
"Dream Host Google SCCA," if you need to know, is a Google workspace (Essentially, e-mail) account for help@studentcenteredclassroomassistant.com (assuming I made no typos on that incredibly long URL). I set that up because I wanted to be able to reply to tech support requests for my app from the support address (previously, it would get forwarded to Hotmail/Gmail, and I'd reply from a different address). So far, I'm earning enough money from the app to justify this service.
As long as I'm editing again, I'll note the $7.20 seems to just barely pay for itself:
This is my app proceeds (after apple takes their cut), "Quarter" = October→November→December = $42/3 = $14/month for the quarter, which is more than the $7.20 i pay for that service.

@RobWilk, thanks for the additional examples!
Our engineering team has already filed a ticket with our service provider and Citi for your particular issue. We don't need any further examples at this time but will be sure to reach back out if we need any further info from you.
Much appreciated!

Except that in simplifi it was still listed as Pending. That's the weird part.

@Coach Natalie I'm hoping that means you (or someone there) found explicitly what they did wrong and are waiting for them to correct that… I would keep pointing out every bank that this is an issue at, but maybe waiting on an answer on "one" instance might help fix all.

Just adding to the pile here that I'm also having this problem and have been for many weeks, but only with my Chase accounts. The accounts have a high volume of transactions, so it's hard for me to say for sure whether it's an issue with cleared transactions showing as pending or what, but the only way I've been able to fix it is to reset the connection and reassociate the accounts in Simplifi.
Other services are pulling the correct balances without issue. It's a really disappointing experience that makes it a challenge for me to reconcile and settle my finances.

@Coach Natalie You realize that not all my examples are citibank, I believe one of my more recent examples was PenFed Gold and an earlier one may have been PenFed PSR. Perhaps we should split off those posts to a separate thread if you're not convinced they are the same thing? My posts here are not all citibank. I posted and messages separately about Chase. EVERY bank has this issue, it has nothing to do with downloading transactions wrong.

Rob Wilkens0 -
If you'd like to separate this out by bank, break up the following messages I posted from this thread into a new thread each by bank :
(1) November 9, message keyword: "AMAZON" - Is specifically about Synchrony bank's amazon card having this issue
(2) November 9, message, keyword "Penfed PSR" - Is specifically about PenFed Platinum signature rewards showing this issue
(3) Today, 8:17am, is specifically about PenFed Gold card having this issue.
In separate topic, I already split off chase with this issue.
I just want to make sure it is not missed that I am not just talking about citibank here.
THIS IS A RELATIVELY RECENT PROBLEM AND IT IS BAD.

If anyone is experiencing an issue with a different bank than Citi, please create a new post to outline the issue.
Thanks!

What about Chase? I provided a lot of info about it already.

@EL1234, the only issue that has been escalated from this thread is for Citi. This thread is becoming very convoluted with all of the different banks and issues, and quite difficult to sift through, so we are asking that separate threads be created for separate banks. We will be submitting escalations for each bank separately when deemed necessary.
I apologize that your issue was missed. Thanks!

Got it! So would you recommend that I start a new thread about chase and then copy/paste the info from there? What about the information I sent via PM, would you need that again?

@EL1234, the latest DM I have from you is from the 6th. You will want to create a new post so we can take a fresh look at what you're experiencing, follow any applicable troubleshooting, and then do any data gathering from there. You'll want to do so while the issue is actively occurring so data can be gathered for the most recent example.
Thank you!
