HSA Bank 2FA sends a code without asking if I need a refresh

I have seen with Amex high yield savings account that it used to ask if 2FA code needs to be sent and there is an option to cancel it, when I don’t need an update. HSA Bank 2FA doesn’t show this option and by default sends a code with no option to cancel the code generation. This seems like a bug but unsure if it is from the bank’s side or Simplifi’s side.

    Hello @Bgz ,

Thanks for reaching out! Generally, MFA will be on the side of the provider. To clarify, a multi-factor authentication code is being requested randomly when you are in Quicken Simplifi, or is this during a refresh? Have you tried resetting the account connection to see if the same behavior continues?

    Let us know!

The code is being requested during a refresh. However, I feel it should ask if we need a code or have the option to cancel the code request. This is how 2FA was with AMEX accounts a while back. The goal is not to have unnecessary codes sent to me if I don’t want to refresh that particular account every time Simplifi thinks it needs refresh.

    Hello @Bgz ,

Thanks for the reply! Some banks have increased their security measures to protect your financial information and require verification with each connection attempt. Due to this change, you might be asked to complete a multifactor authentication (MFA) with each account refresh in Quicken Simplifi.

While we understand how frustrating this may be, this process is in place to protect you and your account information. We don't have a way to prevent these requests, however, some financial institutions offer the option to disable the additional security measures, such as turning off multifactor authentication (MFA).

    I hope this makes sense.

    Hi @Coach Jon ,

I understand the rationale behind banks wanting more security and hence requiring 2FA at each connection attempt.

Let’s say, I open Simplifi 4 times in a day and want to refresh the account only once. Earlier as with AMEX accounts, Simplifi was asking if I want to send a code to my email 4 times and I would choose sending a code only once and the remaining 3 times I was able to hit the “x” button. Now with HSA BANK, that option doesn’t exist and I get a code all 4 times. Can we have that screen where we choose whether a code needs to be generated or not?

    Hello @Bgz ,

I understand where you are coming from. However, since MFA comes from the bank side, we would not have control over that specifically. We also have several idea posts that you can follow regarding this topic as well:

    I hope this information helps!

Thanks. It helps. But this is becoming very annoying as the refresh seems to happen every 2 hours. In other words, I enter code and 2 hrs later it is prompting again for the code when I open the app.
