Recalculate how Planned Spending Totals work with Rollover (edited)
Last month I converted all of my Planned Spending budget categories to be rollovers and I like how things are presented. I understand that the total Planned Spending reflects the current month "planned" amount, not the actual spending, for any expenses marked as rollover. However, this makes the spending plan totals very inaccurate and deceiving. What is deceiving is that my prior month shows still shows that I had positive money left at the end of the month, even though I went over the planned spending categories significantly.
When looking at prior months, it would make sense to show the actual spending instead of just a warning triangle indicating you went over. My proposal is that for the total of Planned Spending expenses, past months show actual spending for that month, while current months show the greater of actual spent or current month planned. I would want this to be the case regardless of rollover type or not. That should give the best view of my actual cash left at end of each month.

@bost.05, thanks for posting your suggestion to the Community!
I went ahead and moved this out of Feature Requests for now to see if any of the following existing requests that have already gained some traction meet your needs:
Let us know if any of these work for you!

No, none of those address what I am talking about. I am talking about the total of Planned Spending when using rollover budgeted expenses. The above 5 suggestions do not deal with rollover budgeted expenses, nor address the total of planned spending presented in the spending plan.

@bost.05, thanks for posting back!
Now that I have re-read your description, it makes more sense what you're looking for, so I have adjusted the title accordingly and turned this back into a Feature Request. Another request that's popped up since Planned Spending Rollover was enabled that you may be interested in is this one, though it's more focused on leftover money:

Thanks @Coach Natalie . I did see that post as well, but agree it is different. I don't quite understand the need that person has with rolling the available cash, but it would be nice to at least see what the true available cash is at the end of the month when using the rollover planned items.

Won't rolling over everything encourage you to spend every penny and give you a spending plan balance that is the same exact value as your net worth? No thanks, i would vote against that.

@RobWilk I don't see how rolling over the planned spending budget categories would encourage someone to spend all their money. Do you factor in your accumulated savings, investments and assets in your spending plan? I certainly dont. In fact, I think not rolling over spending plan budgets encourages poor decisions month-to-month because you could blow your budget one month then start fresh the next month as if you're not already in the hole, which is an irresponsible way to manage your money.
Remember, the rollover feature is OPTIONAL, so why vote against something that might help someone else?

Okay, i misunderstoodwhat you were saying. Though, the spending plan for me is more of a plan than a hard and fast rule, i've got no problem spending more or less than the plan. I like the way it tells me I'm spending more or less than income this month, but that's about it
