How can I manually track investments over time?
I have investments I made into a manual account. I linked them properly and they show the correct value. However, I am unable to add the date when I made this investment, and I noticed that there's no way to show a change in holdings over time. That is, say I liquidate my holdings. The only way to track that is to change my balance, which then will make it so that I never had the investment in the first place.
Is there a way that I can manually change asset balances over time and track them like is done in all of the linked investment accounts? I can't see why the manual account prohibits tracking transactions.

Hello @tonymfernandez,
Thanks for reaching out! Here is a great article we have that explains how to track investments in Quicken Simplifi:
I hope this information helps!

It doesn't really answer my question. Say I have ten ounces of gold. If I sell one, I have to change the holdings of the account. I can't add a transaction to show that the holdings went down on a certain date.

Hello @tonymfernandez,
Thanks for the reply. Investment Transactions don't interact with the Portfolio Value in any way. You will need to edit your Holdings in the Portfolio to update the value there. The instructions to do so were in the article I provided you:
- Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Investments.
- Locate the Holding or Cash you’d like to edit or delete, hover over it, and then click the three dots at the end of it.
- To edit the Holding or Cash, click Edit, make the necessary changes, and click Update when done; to delete the Holding or Cash, select Delete and then click Delete Holding or Delete Cash, whichever applies, to confirm.
Additionally, if you would like to submit an Idea Post for the ability to allow Investment Transactions to impact the Portfolio Value, you are more than welcome to do so!
Thanks,
Coach Jon
