Suggestions - collapsing categories, & narrow screen [Edited]
I came from MS Money, and I feel like I'm going backwards.
- No calculator in split category amounts
- When I collapse a category or sidebar, it doesn't stay collapsed. As soon as I edit a transaction, everything defaults back to expanded view - very annoying
- No debt payoff calculator
- The web page is wider than my screen, and I can't adjust it to be the same width as my screen
These are all near deal-breakers for me. I purchased Simplifi because it seemed to most closely resemble Microsoft Money report features, and I really like the retirement planning tool, but these other things are frustrating enough to make me reconsider.

Hi Tanya.
I used MS Money until they moved us to Quicken 16-17 years ago. Do you mean you continued to use it even after it no longer updated or did downloads? I know it was put into the public domain. If so, wow! I agree that MS Money was very nice. You know MS tried to buy Quicken and when that failed they gave us to them. It's probably a good thing since Microsoft has been to one thing constant never.
I don't have a problem seeing everything on my screen but I have a 24"Mac. Have you tried different fonts or browsers. I assume you are using Simplifi on a laptop? In the transaction lists, you could make the columns smaller and/or close any you don't need to make it fit better.
The Debt Calculator suggestion is being reviewed:
The Calculator for Splits is also suggested but only has 60 votes. You may want to add yours:
I hope some of this helps.

Hello @TanyaL,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! You mentioned that the web app is wider than your screen. To help troubleshoot, please provide more information. Which web browser are you using? Have you tried using an alternate browser? If you're willing, please share a screenshot (make sure to redact any personal information).
I look forward to your reply!

- I forgot to add that I also need:
- - a "note" box for each entry in a split transactions
- - the ability to save customized reports
This seems like basic stuff considering Microsoft Money is old as dirt and has all these features. If it had cross-platform access, I'd never need to look elsewhere. But I'm having trouble finding anything that can compete.

Thank you for your reply,
There is an existing request for that functionality. Please add your vote and a comment to the Idea post below:
- the ability to save customized reports
There is an existing request that looks similar to what you're asking for:
Please add your vote and a comment!
If it's not quite what you're looking for, then I recommend creating a new Idea Post and explaining what you'd like to see in more detail. It is more effective to limit Ideas to one idea/request per post, since that makes it more clear to others what they're voting for, and it makes it more clear to our teams what you want to see added.
Thank you!

Yes, I still use the desktop version of MS Money - even today. I had a disk version of the software from an old Microsoft Works package that I was able to reload over the years, and when I purchased my current laptop a couple of years ago, I found the free online version to download. I love it that much and have used it for decades. I can't seem to give it up, no matter how many other apps or programs I try. Nothing gives me the feeling of control over my finances like MS Money. Anyway…

I will upvote the other threads you shared. I did a quick search for my issues and upvoted a few other threads prior to writing my own, but it was easier and faster to make my own comprehensive thread. I feel like it's Quicken's responsibility to tabulate the suggestions and do the tracking, but I will upvote the other threads that you've shared.
Yes, I'm using a laptop. The browser I use is Brave. I don't really care to use more than one browser for different apps/websites, so it needs to work. I do adjust the columns on my screen, but the scroll bar is still left off at the far right. I did decide to try closing the page and reopening it, and that actually seemed to do the trick. Everything fits on my screen again. So I will keep that in mind for the future, because that was a real pain having the scroll bars off the screen.
Thank you for the replies![Edited - Readability]

Thank you for your reply,
I'm glad to hear that closing and re-opening the page seems to have corrected the issue. If the issue returns, please let us know!
Thank you!

I'd also try zooming your browser in/out to see if that helps, if the issue comes up again.

Tanya:
That did my heart good to hear that you still use Microsoft Money. If I didn't use a Mac, I would download and install it just for old times' sake. I beta tested Windows 3.0, 3.1, 95 and 98, and one of the things I got immediately was MS Money when it came out to replace the DOS program I was using. It was beautiful. I used Ami Pro for Word Processing because Microsoft didn't release Word I don't think until Windows 95 but not sure; memory fails. Ami Pro was another really good app. As I said before, when MS Money terminated development, MS and Quicken provided us with a conversion path to Quicken Classic, so I entered the Quicken World.
I am glad you were able to get the Brave browser to work for you. It is based on Chromium like Edge and Chrome so it should work fine. I've used it before. It is a neat and secure browser.
Good luck on your journey with Simplifi. We'll give you plenty of support here in our little community. Sure, at times, it can be frustrating, but we keep learning and they keep adding features. As you are doing with your Money file, I still keep my old Quicken file current though I keep planning to give it up one day.
Welcome aboard!
