Ability to mark Recurring Reminders as "Scheduled"/"Paid" [edited] (19 Merged Votes)

I marked a future recurring as paid today and it put it in the Transaction List with today's date. So that is great.
It actually is for a few days from now but I wanted to go ahead and split it. I then changed the date for the 17th.
And as before it doesn't appear in the Reminders Bar as it should. It's not a big problem. I can see it as upcoming in the Spending Plan as well as Bills and Income (and edit it if necessary from there), and it will be in my register (transaction list) come Tuesday.

I would still want it reflected in my cash flow projection, if it's not in the reminders bar does it show on that date in the cash flow graph above it?

Edit: Nope, it isn't there.
BTW, what is the official name for that Reminders Bar? You call it the Carousel.

I usually call it the carousel but I have no clue if that's the official name :)

@EL1234 I apologize. I noticed my total was wrong for my checking account in the Cash Flow Graph and had to reset it, and then the reminder transaction no longer shows. It was only there when it was a reminder; now it's gone.
So no, the future dated "mark as paid" reminder is NOT showing up in the Reminder Carousel Bar!
So still some work needed on this feature. But we are getting there…

Thanks for confirming! Hope they fix that soon…

I deleted the transaction and added it back and then linked it to the recurring and now it is in Carousel Bar and in the Cash Flow graph.
So for now, better not to Mark it as Paid if one wants to set it to a future date.

Simplifi has trouble with this because marking a reminder as "Paid" is being used in different ways:
- sometimes it means the reminder was actually paid, either today or earlier
- sometimes it means payment has been scheduled for a future date and will occur unless cancelled
The system handles the first one by creating a transaction and dating it today. But that doesn't work well for the second one, because the reminder hasn't really been "Paid" — it's only been scheduled for later payment.
One solution would be to leave the reminder in the carousel with its future date but have some indicator showing that payment has been arranged.
But then how should we deal with reminders that are on AutoPay (so payment is always arranged)? Should they show some indicator too?

I think it should treat something on autopay as if it was scheduled, and create the transaction when the date arrives. So maybe it would need to be a setting on the series? It's only really an issue with manual accounts since otherwise once the transaction downloads, it'll show up in the register/transaction list and (hopefully) link to the series. I guess if your bank doesn't download pending transactions you'll also have that problem until it clears.
I hope these issues are all just growing pains with the new features….

I definitely think that a scheduled payment needs to show up on the carousel in the future, on the right date, so that it's counted in the cash flow projection.

Yes this, I want just a way to tag reminders as scheduled and I’ll mark as paid once they clear. I hope this “Marked as Paid” is not the end of the enhancement.

That definitely works since downloaded transactions will also clear eventually.

Right… That's exactly what I was thinking about when I suggested some sort of indicator on the reminder.
Just something visible so that I know I have already taken care of that particular one and I don't need to do anything else about it until the actual transaction downloads and (hopefully) matches with the reminder.
I tag the reminders for all of my automatically withdrawn payments with "Auto Pay," but there's no way to see that on the reminder carousel.

it’s my only major complaint with Simplifi atm. Make it happen
